Medical Malpractice Defense/Insurance Defense Paralegal

Key Responsibilities: Assist attorneys with all phases of insurance defense and medical malpractice matters Obtain, review, and organize medical records Prepare detailed medical chronologies and case summaries Coordinate and communicate with expert witnesses Research, identify, retain, and manage medical and other experts Assist with mediation and deposition preparation Draft and respond to discovery requests Manage case files and maintain accurate litigation documentation Prepare suit reports and status reports as required by insurance carriers Track and record time in compliance with insurance carrier billing guidelines Coordinate case deadlines and litigation calendars Support attorneys throughout the litigation lifecycle, including trial preparation when necessary Qualifications 3+ years of insurance defense and/or medical malpractice defense paralegal experience Strong understanding of civil litigation procedures Medical malpractice defense experience strongly preferred Experience with medical malpractice pre-suit matters highly preferred Candidates with litigation-only medical malpractice experience are encouraged to apply; pre-suit training can be provided Experience requesting and analyzing medical records Ability to prepare medical chronologies and case summaries Experience working with expert witnesses and consultants Strong discovery, deposition, and mediation support experience Familiarity with insurance carrier reporting requirements and billing guidelines preferred Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills Technology Experience with Practice Master or similar case management/document management systems preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software
