Federal Network Support Engineer (Tier 2) - Secret Clearance

Overview In this role you support the Azure Core Networking team within federal facilities, ensuring reliable network service across secure environments. You bridge operational support and engineering, handling incidents, deployments, and monitoring to maintain mission-critical connectivity. You collaborate with cross-functional engineers and guide Tier 1 and 1.5 staff while contributing to continuous improvement in federal networking operations. This on-site, security-focused position offers a chance to influence large-scale government cloud infrastructure and incident response. Responsibilities Triage, investigate, and resolve moderately complex incidents to restore service in federal environments Use SPAN/packet capture tools for traffic analysis and issue identification Support WAN-related incident troubleshooting with internal teams and external providers Assist deployment and onboarding of Microsoft Express Route infrastructure including validation and basic troubleshooting Validate network configurations prior to production and escalate risks as needed Validate PulseVPN configurations and connectivity troubleshooting Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and document findings Support network decommissioning per procedures and compliance Provide guidance to Tier 1 and Tier 1.5 during troubleshooting and incident handling Develop and maintain runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge base documentation Escalate and coordinate with external providers (AT&T, BT, Verizon, Equinix, etc.) for incident updates and onboarding Participate in post-incident reviews and offer operational improvement recommendations Key requirementsUS citizen residing in the United States; no dual citizenships Active DoD Secret clearance and CJIS background check; active US Passport Booklet On-site work requirement; no telework 3-4+ years in network operations or technical support Intermediate knowledge of enterprise networking architectures including BGP, OSPF, and secure VPNHands-on experience with Microsoft Azure networking services (Express Route, VPN Gateway, Virtual WAN) supporting large-scale government cloud environments Experience with network monitoring, SPAN sessions, packet capture, and root-cause investigation across hybrid and secure networkscollaboration with cross-functional teamsability to mentor and guide Tier 1/1.5 engineersstrong incident handling and communication skills Azure networking services (Express Route, VPN Gateway, Virtual WAN)SPAN/packet capture analysisBGP and OSPF routing protocols
