Account Supervisor: Consumer Sports & Fitness (PR AGENCY)
Location:
New York City | Hybrid (3 days in office)I have the privilege of representing an independent, full-service global brand and communications agency that partners with innovative brands solving real human problems, with expertise spanning sports and fitness, health and wellness, human performance and longevity, health tech, lifestyle, nutrition, beauty, apparel, and sustainability. They are seeking a seasoned Account Supervisor with a passion for sports, fitness, wellness, and consumer brands to join a growing communications team. This is an opportunity for an experienced PR professional who combines strong media relations, strategic thinking, client leadership, and team management. You will work closely with senior agency leadership and client teams to develop communications strategies, generate meaningful media coverage, and deliver programs that elevate brands and drive business impact. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, confident, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can evolve quickly. You bring calm, structure, and strategic perspective to both client and team relationships.
What You'll Do:
Client Strategy & Leadership Serve as a trusted day-to-day communications advisor to clients and senior stakeholders. Translate business objectives into strategic PR and communications programs. Develop communications plans, briefs, messaging, and campaign strategies. Establish KPIs and evaluate PR programs through reporting, insights, and analytics. Anticipate client needs, manage expectations, and proactively identify opportunities. Prepare and present quarterly reports and results to client stakeholders. Media Relations Develop and execute national media strategies across consumer, lifestyle, health & wellness, fitness, technology, business, and related verticals. Build and maintain strong relationships with top-tier media and editorial contacts. Lead proactive pitching, newsjacking, trend stories, product launches, and high-profile feature opportunities. Develop and oversee media programs including launches, events, experiences, photoshoots, product mailings, and media tours. Identify opportunities to connect clients to broader news cycles, cultural conversations, and emerging trends. Develop compelling pitches, story angles, expert commentary, and other media materials. Writing & Communications Write and edit high-quality communications materials, including pitches, press materials, messaging, and strategic plans. Ensure communications are clear, compelling, accurate, and aligned with AP-style standards. Provide guidance and feedback to junior team members on written materials. Team Leadership & Account Management Lead account projects and manage workflow across multiple priorities. Delegate effectively and ensure deadlines, deliverables, and client expectations are met. Mentor and develop junior team members while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment. Partner with agency leadership on client health, team development, and strategic priorities. Collaborate across teams and disciplines to bring the strongest ideas and expertise to clients.
What You Bring:
6–7+ years of PR/communications experience, preferably within an agency environment. Experience working with Consumer: CPG, sports, fitness, wellness, lifestyle, or related. Proven ability to develop and execute strategic communications programs. Strong national media relations experience and established relationships with relevant Tier 1 media. Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills. Strong client management and executive-level communication capabilities. Ability to understand complex products, businesses, and technical subject matter and translate them into compelling communications. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple accounts, priorities, deadlines, and team resources. Experience mentoring, delegating to, and developing junior team members. Strong judgment, organization, initiative, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Google Workspace and Slack.
