Responsibilities: Provide primary and urgent medical care to inmates, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic conditions Perform routine physical exams and health assessments Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests such as labs and imaging Prescribe medications and develop individualized treatment plans per state laws and facility policies Provide preventive care, chronic disease management, and patient education Examine, diagnose, and treat common medical issues within NP scope of practice Document all patient encounters, assessments, treatment plans, and follow-ups accurately and timely Maintain medical records in compliance with facility policies and healthcare regulations Coordinate care with other clinicians and correctional health staff to ensure continuity of care Work collaboratively with physicians, RNs, LPNs, and correctional staff Respond to medical emergencies and provide urgent care interventions as needed Adhere to all security protocols and procedures specific to the correctional environment Assist with health promotion and education programs for the inmate population Coordinate specialist referrals and follow-up care outside the facility when necessary Maintain professional licensure and clinical competencies, including BLS/CPR certification and any required state certifications Nurse Practitioner (FNP or AGNP)
