At LPL, people leaders hold the key to the employee experience — shaping culture, driving performance, and guiding individuals to new heights. Because when that happens, we all win – clients, LPL, and most importantly our employees. LPL Financial is seeking a VPII, Strategic Pricing to help shape and execute the firm’s enterprise pricing strategy. This leader will play a critical role in defining how LPL prices its platform, products, services, and affiliation models to support growth, margin expansion, client experience, and long-term competitive differentiation.
This role is designed for a high‑potential strategy and finance leader with the analytical rigor of a top‑tier consulting or strategic finance background and the operating maturity to influence senior stakeholders across the organization. The ideal candidate may have experience as a Senior Manager, Engagement Manager, Principal, or early‑tenure Partner at a leading strategy consulting firm, or as a strategic finance / corporate strategy leader in a complex financial services organization. The successful candidate will lead a small, high‑performing team responsible for translating enterprise strategy into pricing architecture, economic analysis, decision frameworks, implementation roadmaps, and executive‑ready recommendations. This person must be able to move seamlessly from detailed financial modeling and analytical problem solving to executive storytelling, stakeholder alignment, and cross‑functional execution.
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain LPL’s multi‑year pricing strategy, including the pricing architecture, strategic principles, economic targets, and roadmap required to support the firm’s 3- to 5-year objectives.
Analyze how LPL makes money across advisor segments, affiliation models, products, platforms, and services; identify opportunities to improve quality of earnings, price realization, margin expansion, growth, retention, and client experience.
Lead strategic pricing workstreams across areas such as affiliation model pricing, advisory platform pricing, bundled pricing, advisor incentives, end‑client fees, discounting, and fee simplification.
Design pricing recommendations that balance commercial impact with advisor experience, end‑client experience, competitive positioning, regulatory considerations, operational feasibility, and execution risk.
Build and pressure‑test financial models, scenario analyses, sensitivity analyses, and business cases to quantify opportunity size, advisor impact, attrition risk, implementation, and strategic tradeoffs.
Frame complex pricing decisions for senior leadership, including the Pricing Committee, Management Committee, C‑suite leaders, and Board‑level discussions when appropriate.
Partner with Finance, Legal, Compliance, Technology, Operations, Product, Advisor Experience, Relationship Management, Sales, Communications, and business line leaders to move pricing initiatives from strategy through execution.
Establish clear decision frameworks, governance processes, and guardrails for pricing decisions, exceptions, discounting, legacy arrangements, and ongoing prioritization.
Translate pricing strategy into implementation roadmaps, including data requirements, operating model needs, communications plans, stakeholder ownership, and change‑management considerations.
Lead, coach, and develop a small team of pricing strategy professionals, raising the bar on analytical quality, executive communication, strategic judgment, and cross‑functional influence.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, strategy, engineering, liberal arts, or a related field.
10+ years of professional experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, strategic finance, pricing strategy, corporate finance, investment banking, FP&A, or a related commercial strategy role.
Demonstrated experience leading complex analytical work and translating analysis into enterprise‑level strategic recommendations.
Strong financial modeling and business case development skills, with the ability to quantify financial impact and strategic tradeoffs.
Proven ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives that require alignment across strategy, finance, product, technology, operations, legal, compliance, sales, and client‑facing teams.
