About the role

Payroll Specialist / Payroll Administrator We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to take full ownership of weekly payroll for a fast-paced, growing organization with a large employee workforce. This role requires someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and experienced handling high-volume payroll from start to finish. The ideal candidate understands payroll beyond simply submitting hours to a payroll company. You should be comfortable reviewing timekeeping, identifying discrepancies, managing employee changes, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring payroll is correct and completed on time every week.
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, review, and oversee weekly payroll for a large workforce
  • Review employee hours, punches, overtime, missed punches, and other timekeeping issues
  • Verify payroll information for accuracy before submission
  • Process new hires, terminations, pay-rate changes, deductions, and other employee updates
  • Research and correct payroll discrepancies quickly
  • Maintain organized and accurate payroll records and documentation
  • Coordinate directly with our outside payroll provider
  • Assist employees and management with payroll-related questions and issues
  • Ensure payroll deadlines are consistently met
  • Maintain confidentiality of payroll and employee information
  • Help improve payroll procedures and controls as the company continues to grow
  • Ensure payroll processes follow applicable federal, state, and local requirements
Qualifications:
  • Large-scale/high-volume payroll experience required
  • Strong hands-on experience preparing and managing payroll from start to finish
  • Experience with timekeeping systems and reviewing employee punches/hours
  • Strong understanding of overtime, payroll deductions, and wage calculations
  • Experience handling new hires, terminations, and compensation changes
  • Excellent attention to detail — accuracy is extremely important in this position
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of payroll
  • Ability to handle strict weekly deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong Excel skills preferred
  • Experience with payroll/timekeeping platforms such as Fingercheck, ADP, Paychex, UKG, or similar systems preferred
Compensation
Starting salary: $85,000/year, based on experience
Full-time position We are specifically looking for someone with substantial payroll experience who can step into the role, learn our processes quickly, and confidently manage a large weekly payroll with minimal supervision.
