Feel like you deserve more recognition than you're getting? Here's an opportunity to own the number, the strategy, and the customer. You've probably got a track record as the top seller at more than 1 company. People in the past may have told you something like “you’re too valuable on the front line for a bigger role” You know you can do more than just carry a bag. You want to set the strategy, drive the deals, and show everyone else how it’s done. We’re looking for a defense sales leader who is still close enough to the field to close the biggest deals themselves, while building a high‑performing team around them. If you’re the person who naturally becomes de‑facto 'head of' wherever you go, this is the role where the title and authority finally catch up with the reality. What You’ll Own The Number Full ownership of an annual revenue target Personally lead and close the largest, most strategic deals Set the forecast, build the plan, and hit the number The Strategy Define the go‑to‑market approach for your the DoD, specifically Navy & Marine Corps Decide which opportunities you go all‑in on and how to structure the campaigns Work directly with the exec team on account strategy and deal design
The Team:
Lead a small, senior team, and grow it Set the standard for activity, discipline, and closing Coach your way: from how to run the meeting to how to structure the deal Why apply? You’re the A Player, and we’re fine with that You won’t be buried under layers of “heads of” and “SVPs.” This is a visible role with direct credit for wins. Player‑coach, not pure manager If you get bored just “managing” and still want real skin in the game, this lets you run your own deals and prove a point every quarter. Freedom to shape things your way Set pricing and commercial structures inside agreed guardrails Decide how to resource key pursuits Tune the sales process to how you know big, complex programs are actually won Title and scope that match your ambition Formal VP of Sales title reporting into the C‑suite, not tucked away as another senior staff member What You’ve Probably Done Before Ranked as the #1 salesperson (or top 5%) at previous companies Closed large, complex deals (multi‑million, multi‑year) into DoD, IC, or federal agencies, ORSimilar long‑cycle, complex‑procurement environments Acted as de‑facto team lead Junior reps and even peers come to you for deal coaching You routinely “take point” on the biggest opportunities Played well at senior levels: You’re comfortable in rooms with generals, SES, or C‑suite execs You can hold the pen on the deal structure and push it through to signature What You’re Like Competitive, and proud of it You’ll do the extra meeting, the extra flight, the extra late‑night call if it moves the deal Relentless about controlling the opportunity Impatient with bureaucracy and slow decision‑making
