The Opportunity: SHADE Industries is seeking an experienced Architectural Shade Structure Foreman & Lead Custom Carpentry Installer to direct field assembly, custom mounting, and structural positioning of high-end architectural shade sails, steel frameworks, and specialty fabric tensioning systems across Phoenix and regional project sites. In this hands-on field leadership role, you will apply precision carpentry, laser layout skills, and heavy mechanical fastening techniques to integrate custom shade structures into luxury residential outdoor spaces, commercial venues, and municipal facilities. Leading small installation crews, you will ensure structural attachment details match engineered plans and deliver drum-tight, weather-resistant installations. Key Responsibilities: Architectural Field Leadership: Direct daily activities for small installation crews (1 to 4 members), managing jobsite safety, structural mounting, and quality execution. Precision Layout & Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret architectural blueprints, structural elevation drawings, and engineered mounting schematics to lay out bracketry, structural posts, and steel attachment points accurately. Field Carpentry & Mechanical Fastening: Execute custom timber framing, steel post setting, structural drilling, and heavy-duty mechanical anchor installations into concrete, wood framing, and masonry structures. Fabric Tensioning & Hardware Rigging: Oversee hardware rigging, cable tensioning, and precise adjustments of tensioned fabric sails to achieve exact structural alignment and weather resistance. Client & Project Manager Communication: Interface professionally on-site with homeowners, general contractors, commercial property managers, and project managers to review scope details and ensure client satisfaction. Quality Assurance & Site Safety: Maintain clean, organized work zones, enforce strict jobsite safety standards, and ensure finished installations meet exact aesthetic and engineering specifications. What You Need to Succeed (Qualifications)Required Specialty Trade Tenure: Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in rough framing, finish carpentry, deck building, pergola construction, or custom architectural installation. Mechanical & Layout Aptitude: High proficiency with power tools, laser levels, structural fasteners, mechanical anchors, and precision hardware layouts. Crew Leadership Track Record: Demonstrated ability to lead field crews, delegate tasks effectively, and resolve real-time structural challenges on-site. Mobility & Travel Flexibility: Valid driver license with a clean, insurable driving record, along with willingness to travel for short-term regional deployments (1 to 4 days) several times per year. Specialty Outdoor Structure Experience: Direct background in custom outdoor living structures, commercial awnings, shade sails, or architectural canvas systems.
Safety Certifications: Active OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour Construction Safety card or specialized trade credentials.
