Inventory Control Associate The Inventory Control Associate maintains inventory accuracy across a high-volume IT asset disposition (ITAD) and enterprise hardware environment. This role performs daily cycle counts of serialized and non-serialized assets, investigates and reconciles discrepancies in the WMS/ERP, and supports chain-of-custody and compliance documentation requirements. Accuracy directly protects client data security commitments, resale value, and audit readiness.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform daily and weekly cycle counts of assigned bin locations, racks, and staging areas; verify part numbers, serial numbers, quantities, and unit of measure. Reconcile physical counts against system records; research variances by tracing receiving, put-away, testing, and shipping transactions. Document count results, root causes, and corrective actions; escalate high-impact variances and any potential loss or missing data-bearing device immediately to the supervisor. Maintain serialized asset tracking and chain-of-custody accuracy for data-bearing assets moving through receiving, testing, data erasure, and shipping. Process inventory adjustments, bin transfers, and location corrections in the WMS/ERP per approval policy, maintaining a clean audit trail. Operate RF scanners and handheld devices for counts, transfers, and location validation; troubleshoot basic scan and label issues. Label, re-label, and organize bin locations to support accurate and repeatable counting. Partner with receiving, testing, production control, and shipping teams to resolve discrepancies at the source and reduce repeat errors. Support full physical inventories, internal audits, and client or third-party audit preparation. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area; follow all safety and security protocols.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED.1+ year of inventory control, cycle counting, receiving, or warehouse experience. Working knowledge of a WMS or ERP system (SAP, Oracle, Net Suite, or similar) and RF/barcode scanning. Basic Excel and data entry proficiency. Strong attention to detail, basic math, and the ability to stay accurate through repetitive tasks. Ability to work independently and communicate variances clearly to a supervisor.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in ITAD, electronics, data center hardware, or a serialized-asset environment. Forklift, order picker, or pallet jack certification. Experience supporting audits or root-cause analysis on inventory variances.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, and reach for extended periods on a warehouse floor. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to work in varying warehouse temperatures. Flexibility to support occasional evening, weekend, or peak-volume schedules.
