Two Claims Adjuster Roles: 1. Workers’ Compensation 2. Property & Casualty Jeffco Public Schools is hiring for TWO Claims Adjuster positions for the self-administered program within Risk Management: Workers’ Compensation Adjuster to handle compensability determinations, medical management, lost-time benefits, and litigation coordination. Property & Casualty Adjuster to manage a diverse caseload of general liability, bodily injury, auto liability, and property damage claims, with primary emphasis on liability and auto exposures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
FOR BOTH ADJUSTER POSITIONSInvestigate claims, gather facts, interview involved parties, and evaluate claim exposure. Ensure appropriate reserves are set timely. Review reserve recommendations with supervisor when exceeding authority limit. Document claim status, progress notes, and action plans timely. Communicate regularly with internal stakeholders regarding claim status, strategy, and anticipated outcomes. Evaluate claims for settlement opportunities and assist in achieving timely, cost-effective resolutions. Evaluate need for and assign social media checks, physical surveillance, SIU involvement, etc. Assess claims for need of defense counsel involvement. Manage and provide strategic guidance to defense counsel. WORKERS’ COMPENSATION ADJUSTERInvestigate workplace injuries to determine compensability under Colorado Workers’ Compensation Act regulations. Coordinate medical treatment, independent medical exams (IMEs), and related claim services. Calculate average weekly wages and administer indemnity benefits. Complete required Division of Workers’ Compensation (DOWC) filings and ensure regulatory compliance. Support injured employees, supervisors, HR partners, payroll, and leave administration throughout the claim process. PROPERTY & CASUALTY ADJUSTERInvestigate and manage general liability, bodily injury, auto liability, auto physical damage, and property damage claims, including attorney-represented claims. Evaluate liability, damages, claim exposure, and reserve adequacy. Negotiate settlements with claimants, attorneys, and insurance carriers. Coordinate facility and vehicle damage repairs and monitor recovery efforts. Pursue subrogation, restitution, and recovery opportunities.
REQUIREMENTS:
Three years of experience in workers comp, general liability, and/or auto claims handling. Two years of experience working with public entities preferred for property & casualty role.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
High School degree required. Post-secondary insurance related courses or an Associate's Degree or higher preferred. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, OR REGISTRATIONSNone required. ARM (Associate in Risk Management), ARM-P (Associate in Risk Management for Public Entities) preferred.
