About the role

Overview: The Ideker Laboratory at UC San Diego is recruiting aDirector of BioMachine Learning (BioML)to lead machine learning research and development for the "Dynamic Digital Tumors for Precision Oncology" project, a new precision cancer therapy initiative funded by the ARPA-H ADAPT Program. The project aims to use advanced AI/ML technologies to deliver the right therapy to the right patients at the right time, applying predictive biomarkers and interpretable AI/ML to create dynamical cancer treatment strategies and personalized therapies for patients with metastatic cancers. This role will oversee AI/ML research projects and objectives toward the successful completion of the ADAPT program goals. Responsibilities and qualifications are described below.
Responsibilities: Lead machine learning research and development for the Dynamic Digital Tumors for Precision Oncology project. Oversee AI/ML research projects and objectives to achieve ADAPT program goals. Apply expertise in bioinformatics, systems biology, and cancer biology to develop predictive models and interpretable AI/ML tools. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to advance precision oncology strategies and personalized therapies for metastatic cancers. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to project teams and researchers.
Qualifications: Advanced degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline. 3+ years of relevant work experience.
