~$120,000-135,000/yr + bonus + fulltime benefits and PTOExact locations: must currently live near New Century, KS or New Albany, IN (very flexible hybrid work environment) Metro areas: Kansas City, KS and Louisville, KY (relocation not available) This is primarily a full-stack software engineering position requiring strong C#, .NET, Python, or similar development skills with approximately a 70–80% backend focus. Most of the role's effort will initially focus on Automation and AI initiatives instead of traditional application development. The hiring focus will therefore prioritize conceptual automation expertise over experience with any single automation platform.
Position Summary:
We seek a full time, full-stack Software Engineer with a 'You Build It, You Run It' mentality to enhance automation throughout the organization. The role involves developing integrations, data pipelines, and supporting services that streamline manual processes and connect various systems. The engineer will utilize AI tools such as RAG pipelines, large language model (LLM) integrations, and prompt engineering when appropriate, alongside traditional integration and scripting methods. This position offers the opportunity to contribute hands-on automation work while collaborating with an experienced team of C# and Angular developers. Support includes leadership guidance, access to external expertise on complex problems, and professional development resources. There is a clear pathway for growth into a technical partner role, with a focus on automation architecture decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and build end-to-end automation solutions, including integrations, data pipelines, workflow automation, and scripting.
Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and assess automation opportunities, applying judgment on when to utilize AI versus traditional methods.
Manage data movement and integration between systems, supporting ingestion, transformation, and ensuring data remains current.
Develop AI features that provide tangible value, such as prompt design, RAG pipelines (chunking, embedding, indexing into vector databases), and LLM integrations (including evaluation of platforms like OpenAI and Anthropic).Work closely with development teams maintaining C#/.NET and Angular codebases, participating in feature development, bug fixing, and code reviews.
Deploy, maintain, and monitor containerized services, including self-hosted components like vector storage solutions, primarily on cloud platforms.
Engage with external consultants when needed to deepen technical knowledge and reduce reliance on outside resources over time.
Rapidly prototype automation ideas to validate concepts before full implementation.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience as a backend developer.
Strong proficiency in programming languages such as C#, JavaScript, Python, or Node.js.
Familiarity with RAG concepts, chunking strategies, embeddings, and vector search techniques.
Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve system and integration issues.
Knowledge of workflow automation tools (e.g., n8n, Zapier, Airflow) and Redis for caching, queues, and workflow management.
Familiarity with managing cloud-based environments, preferably in Azure.
Solid understanding of version control systems and basic CI/CD pipelines.
Ability to monitor and troubleshoot system health and script failures in production environments.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with vector databases like Qdrant, Pinecone, or Weaviate.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
Between 3 to 7 years of full-time full-stack development experience.
Over 3 years of experience building system integrations, data integrations, or APIs for critical business systems.
