Senior Director of Engineering, Facilities & Maintenance

What You'll Do: Design the network. Own layouts for new building launches and for reconfigurations of existing sites. Partner with Merchant Launch to find the design that makes the best use of space for each merchant's needs. Deliver capital projects. Take projects from design through installation and validation. That includes racking, PIT/MHE, pack stations and carts, and processing equipment such as conveyors, sorters and engraving machines, along with the power drops and electrical work they depend on. Build processing capacity, not just storage. Make sure each site's equipment and infrastructure can handle its volume. Plan ahead so new capacity is live when demand arrives. Make smart buy vs. rent decisions. Weigh purchasing, leasing or short-term renting for each need, using volume certainty, utilization and total cost of ownership. For example, rent PITs through peak season but buy for base volume. Get the most out of every asset. Source used equipment where it makes sense. Decide whether to resell, repurpose or relocate assets, such as moving surplus racking to another site. Maintain an asset register that tracks location, condition, depreciation and book value. Maximize uptime. Lead the maintenance technician teams across all facilities. Run preventive maintenance and root cause programs that improve OEE (overall equipment effectiveness) and extend asset life. Work alongside Operations. Align on maintenance priorities, and plan installations and layout changes so the floor keeps running with minimal disruption. Choose between building and buying. Manage contractors where needed, and bring work in house when it lowers cost or speeds up response. Drive down purchase costs. Partner with Procurement to write specs and run RFQs, compare vendor bids and negotiate pricing on equipment, installations and services. Own the budget. Build the business case for capital spend, track spend against plan, and deliver on ROI.

What You'll Bring: 10+ years in facilities engineering or maintenance leadership in warehousing, distribution or 3PL, including multi-site leadership. Deep, hands-on knowledge of warehouse equipment, from racking and MHE to conveyors, sorters and specialty processing equipment. Experience delivering capital projects and layouts in both new buildings and live operations. Working knowledge of facility electrical and infrastructure requirements for equipment installs. A resourceful approach to capital, with a track record of used-equipment sourcing, asset redeployment and cost reduction. Strong financial skills, including capex budgeting, ROI, buy vs. lease analysis and asset depreciation. Experience running RFQs and negotiating with equipment vendors and contractors. A leader who builds strong teams and works well with Operations, Finance, Procurement and Merchant Launch.
