The Safety Manager will possess competency in the following areas in order to perform his/her role in a safe, productive, and effective manner. Note that the areas listed are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by co-workers assigned to this role. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all the responsibilities, skills, efforts, or working conditions associated with this job. The Safety Manager reports directly to the Safety Director and has the authority to require changes in project operations in all matters involving safety, health and environmental issues. The Field Safety Representative is responsible for the following: Ability to communicate effectively with project personnel, subcontractor management, corporate shared services and outside agencies Ability to document safety inspections, incident information, corrective actions and required reports clearly and timely Bilingual in Spanish preferred, but not required Positive, pro-active attitude that helps motivate and inspire teamwork with all co-workers Ability to teach, coach and mentor co-workers while gaining trust and increasing safety buy-in Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills Ability to recognize hazardous situations and behaviors, then implement corrective measures Ability to identify and anticipate safety and health concerns by surveying worksite conditions and work practices Ability to recommend procedures to prevent future incidents Requires regular project safety inspections and a strong field presence Requires work in active construction project environments and coordination with project supervisory personnel Must be available on site for OSHA inspections when requested Conduct regular project safety inspections and show a strong presence in the field Concentrate efforts on projects or areas of concern or weakness when required Document project safety inspections and forward them to project personnel by end of work day or next morning using established company format Ensure that violations noted in project safety inspections are corrected, properly documented and submitted in a timely manner by project personnel Control hazardous working conditions and unsafe worker activities through immediate safety management actions and communication with project supervisory personnel for corrective action Identify and anticipate safety and health concerns and hazards by surveying worksite conditions and work practices Assist with development of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Daily Work Plan (DWP) / Mission Task Analysis (MTA)Teach, coach and mentor co-workers gaining their trust and increasing their knowledge as well as buy-in into an overall culture of safety Train project personnel in properly conducting stretches each day per the company Stretch & Flex Program where implemented Participate and serve on the Corporate Safety Committee Take steps required in conjunction with the safety department to maintain TRIR (Incident Rate) below the National Average Assist project personnel with investigation and reporting of all worksite incidents involving injury, near-miss, equipment and/or property damage Recommend potential procedures on how to prevent future incidents Provide information to, and cooperate as requested or required, with Corporate Shared Services to facilitate workers compensation or insurance claims Assist with the pre-planning and development of job-specific safety programs for new projects Write Site Specific Safety Plans when requested with project management input Assist in maintaining the master copy of Safety Data Sheets and other hazardous chemical information, publications, and materials to distribute to field personnel and others as required by the Hazard Communication Standard and other regulations/policies Oversee and maintain calibration of the company's gas monitors used in hazardous atmospheres Assist with oversight of subcontractor safety, health and environmental issues on projects. Properly document and submit necessary information to subcontractor management personnel Assist with the implementation of field drug testing as requested or required by the Human Resource Department Be on site for any OSHA inspections as requested Oversee tracking of receipt from the assigned project(s), weekly safety inspections performed by project personnel, weekly safety Toolbox Talks, monthly Drug-Free Safety Program Employee Toolbox Talks, and other information required for ACI/OSHA quarterly reports Check project First Aid Kit inventories weekly, maintain company first aid supply inventory, and clean and re-stock first aid kits turned in at end of projects Fill in for the Corporate Safety Director if requested in their absence Perform additional assignments as directed by the Corporate Safety DirectorOSHA 30-Hour Training for the Construction Industry Authorized OSHA Outreach Trainer for the Construction Industry Qualified Equipment Operator Trainer for forklifts, aerial lifts and skid-steer loaders Company Stretch & Flex Program Drug-Free Safety Program Employee Toolbox Talks Hazard Communication Standard and related safety, health and environmental requirements
Education:
Bachelor's Degree or minimum of (4) years of concrete/safety construction experience
Experience:
