This summary provides a listing of the knowledge, skills, and abilities that are critical components of the position of First Officer.
General
This position guarantees a minimum of seventy-two (72) flight hours per month and reports directly to the Chief Pilot. The ideal candidate will hold a valid FAA ATP certificate, First-Class Medical Certificate, and be type-rated on multi-engine aircraft (B-737 type rating preferred). Candidates must demonstrate a strong working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), excellent communication skills, and the ability to uphold Eastern Air Express’s values in a fast-paced operational environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The First Officer (FO) supports the Captain in ensuring the safe and efficient conduct of every flight:
Assist the Captain with the safe operation of the aircraft, passengers, cargo, and crew.
Perform flight duties as delegated by the Captain and assume command if the Captain becomes incapacitated.
Maintain awareness of Captain responsibilities and accept delegated authority as required.
Ensure compliance with all FARs, company policies, and standard operating procedures.
Maintain a current First-Class Medical Certificate and report any condition affecting flight fitness.
Uphold professionalism, teamwork, and clear communication across all phases of flight.
Qualifications:
2,000 hours total flight time, including at least 500 hours in turbojet aircraft.
FAA First-Class Medical Certificate.
FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
Valid driver’s license.
Valid passport with worldwide travel eligibility.
English proficiency at ICAO Level 4 or higher.
Authorization to work in the United States.
Strong record of safety and regulatory compliance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Narrow-body aircraft experience.
Crew Resource Management (CRM) training/experience.
In addition:
Ability to multitask and perform under pressure in a dynamic environment.
Willingness to work schedules bid by seniority, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must successfully complete pre-employment DOT drug testing, alcohol testing, and criminal history records check (CHRC).
