Marquette's 2027 IT internship is a hands-on, cross-functional opportunity to gain insightand experience in every level of support, implementation, and service delivery provided by the IT department in both a traditional office environment and out in the field on-board working river towboats.
Principal Responsibilities:
Provide hands‐on technical support to office and vessel‐based employees by diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues using a ticketing system and remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools. Install, configure, and maintain IT equipment including computers, monitors, printers, networking equipment, communication devices, and other technology used throughout the company. Travel to and work aboard river towboats to assist with the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of onboard IT, networking, and communications equipment. Configure and support next‐generation networking and communications devices onboard vessels. Work alongside IT team members on active projects and initiatives, gaining exposure to infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, end‐user support, and technology operations within a large, enterprise environment. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Currently seeking an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in IT or a related field. Interest in field IT work and ability to adapt to non‐traditional work settings such as towboats and dockside facilities. A positive, customer‐focused mindset and a passion for hands‐on learning. Must have a valid Driver's license and excellent driving record. Previous experience in hands‐on or physical work environments. Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to collaborate in a team environment. Competency with computers, operating systems, and common software. Willingness and ability to travel to and board vessels.
