TD Bank is hiring aData Engineer IIIto deliver advanced data engineering capabilities for platform and journey-focused work. This onsite role in Mount Laurel, NJcovers end-to-end responsibilities across data modeling, ingestion, ETL, metadata, and governance, with the expectation of operating independently and serving as a subject matter expert. Role context The Data Engineer III supports a broad range of data engineering functions, including data modeling, data quality and profiling, data acquisition and ingestion, ETL, metadata enrichment and management, and data provenance and lineage. The role performs highly complex technical tasks independently and takes the lead in multiple related areas.
Responsibilities: Conduct data analysis and assess data management requirements for a Platform or Journey, including complex analysis spanning multiple pods or products Maintain expert knowledge of upstream data through data profiling, data quality reporting, and metadata production Support data acquisition and ingestion Present complex, large-scale technical design and development details to non-technical business partners Elicit and analyze business and data requirements to deliver complete business solutions, including entity relationship diagrams, dimensional data models, ETL, business rules, data life-cycle management, governance, lineage, and metadata Ensure data is maintained in compliance with enterprise data standards, policies, and guidelines Develop and maintain complex data models using industry standard modeling tools Develop and maintain complex ETL jobs and frameworks using the bank’s standard tools Support development and testing teams to resolve data issues, including escalation support on complex issues Assist partners and stakeholders with interpreting and analyzing data Build effective working relationships within the pod and across partner teams to support pod deliverables Coordinate with technology work teams such as ITS, ARE, Architecture, Enterprise Protect, and related groups to support delivery success Support QA by performing data analysis and investigations for complex issues and test cases as part of SIT/UAT/PAT testing Provide oversight for post-implementation activities during the warranty period Execute and approve code check-in and check-out into the source code repository as part of source code management Support code packaging and deployment (CI and CD) into higher environments with ITS/ARE teams Act as a lead participant in design and architecture reviews Raise Service Now requests and work with the change management team to support release management activities Lead data engineering initiatives, including data governance principles and their application across the organization Ensure metadata and data lineage are captured and remain compatible with enterprise metadata and data management tools and processes Adhere to and contribute toward standard security coding practices to reduce common coding vulnerabilities Identify and document technical decisions, technical risks, and lessons learned, and implement enhancements accordingly Identify and manage risks, and elevate non-standard, high-risk activities when needed Adhere to internal policies/procedures and applicable regulatory guidelines Stay current on emerging trends and developments, growing knowledge of the business and related tools and techniques Enable and mentor team members through knowledge sharing and engineering best practices Participate fully as a team member, supporting a positive work environment, quality, innovation, teamwork, and timely communication of issues and progress Provide thought leadership on data engineering best practices and participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business unit Participate in personal performance management and development activities, including cross training within the team Keep others informed on project status and day-to-day progress and relevant information Lead, motivate, and develop relationships with internal and external business partners and stakeholders Contribute to a fair, positive, and equitable environment that supports a diverse workforce Act as a brand ambassador for the business area/function and the bank, internally and/or externally
Requirements: Degree, Postgraduate Degree, or Technical Certificate in Data Management or a related discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering), or equivalent practical experience Graduate Degree preferred 5+ years of relevant experience 5+ years hands‑on experience using SQL and Python to develop, analyze, and optimize data‑driven solutions 5+ years of experience in data modeling, including the ability to design, develop, and maintain data models supporting business and technical objectives 5+ years hands‑on experience with enterprise relational database platforms such as SQL Server, Synapse Dedicated Pool, or Oracle 3+ years of experience championing knowledge growth, best practices, and platform support for Unity Catalog and Databricks Lakehouse solutions across technical teams Experience analyzing and performance tuning SQL queries Good experience in the Banking/Financial Domain Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities to troubleshoot and resolve database‑related issues TechnologiesSQL, Python Data modelingSQL Server, Synapse Dedicated Pool, Oracle Unity Catalog, Databricks LakehouseETLCI & CDService Now Location and schedule Onsite: Mount Laurel, New Jersey, United States of America
