About the role

Description: The Executive Director, Organization Design is a senior leader within The Estée Lauder Companies’ Organizational Effectiveness Center of Excellence. This role leads enterprise-wide organization design and operating model engagements that translate business strategy into practical organizational solutions. This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced practitioner with deep expertise in operating model and organization structure design, governance, decision rights, and ways of working.
Key Responsibilities: Lead complex, enterprise-wide organization design and operating model engagements, translating business strategy into clear design principles, requirements, and practical organizational solutions. Assess organizational challenges using qualitative and quantitative evidence. Identify root causes across structure, governance, decision rights, accountabilities, processes, and ways of working. Use workforce data, including spans, layers, cost, and management ratios, to inform design decisions. Partner with workforce planning and analytics specialists to address future workforce requirements. Develop and compare design options, clearly explaining the benefits, risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs of each. Advise senior leaders on critical organizational decisions and facilitate discussions that build alignment and drive decisions. Translate the selected direction into future-state organizational structures, governance, decision rights, interaction models, and ways of working. Lead change management for organization and operating model redesigns, including stakeholder alignment, impact assessment, and adoption planning. Build ELC’s organization design and operating model methodologies, tools, standards, and playbooks ensuring they are practical and easy to use for People Partners.
Qualifications: 10+ years of experience in operating model design, organization design, organizational effectiveness, human capital consulting, or a related field. Experience guiding senior executives through significant operating model choices and tradeoffs in a global, matrixed organization. Strong business acumen and the ability to translate business strategy into practical operating model decisions. Experience leading the change management directly associated with operating model and organization redesigns. Strong structured problem-solving, facilitation, organizational analytics, and executive communication skills. Exceptional judgment, discretion, and ability to navigate ambiguity. Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
