Technical WriterA Technical Writer must have experience in explaining highly technical data and information in simplistic, grade-school language for end users of IT systems and projects. The Technical Writer must be able to use a variety of word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, and scheduling tools. Reporting to the Asset Management and Logistics Lead, you will be responsible for the development of training and project documentation associated with governance, standard operating procedures, product features, and asset data reports. A Technical Writer has the expertise to explain complex information in a clear and concise manner, engaging with stakeholders across the VA. The candidate should be comfortable in a rapidly changing environment with competing and shifting priorities.
Responsibilities:
Provide technical writing support, including creating, editing, standardizing, and ensuring error-free, publishable content Develop templates, reports, charts, tables, and presentations using Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Use Microsoft Visio to create complex workflow diagrams and process models, and lead process owners in developing documentation for OIT work products, while maintaining SharePoint workflow processes integrated with Microsoft Outlook Collaborate with communications to release periodic mailers associated with product features, best practices, and governance Provide support with meeting facilitation, note-taking, ensuring Section 508 compliance, and developing reports using PowerBIAnalyze IT business and information processes to identify risks and opportunities for increased efficiencies, providing recommendations to improve OIT business processes Respond to customer inquiries regarding business-related matters, gather data for annual business planning, and provide timely updates on the status of assigned tasks Work on special projects related to business process efforts, gap analyses, feasibility studies, and trade-off analyses Prepare business cases for IT solutions, present findings and recommendations to various audiences, and use the standard OIT change management system for managing assignments and work products Prepare an Annual Documentation and Process Improvement Report on communications effectiveness, business process optimizations, and documentation updates
Location: Reside in the United States and work Core hours 9-5pm Local
Requirements:
- Associate's degree or 2 years of Technical School in computer science, electronics engineering, or another engineering or technical discipline 2+ years of relevant experience 4 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education
- Possess effective verbal and written communication skills
- Have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively with other team members and the project manager to determine delivery of the customer's priorities
- Ability to synthesize and analyze data across different functions, multiple systems, and internal and external sources
- Advanced understanding of MS Project, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, and SharePointClearance Requirement:
- US Citizen or Green card holder
- Willing and able to get a Public Trust Suitability clearance
