Staff Software Engineer$230,000–$250,000 base + bonus + equity | New York City | Onsite, 5 daysSODA has partnered with a seed-stage FinTech building AI-powered technology for complex fund administration. You'll join a small engineering team where you'll own meaningful product areas, work directly with financial specialists and report to the CTO.
The Opportunity:
You'll turn complex financial problems into software used across accounting, reporting, compliance and investor operations.
This is a hands-on Staff role. You'll make architecture decisions, write production code and own projects from an early idea through to customers using them.
The stack includes Python, TypeScript, React, FastAPI, GraphQL, gRPC, AWS, Kubernetes and Terraform.
What You'll Do:
- Own core product features from discovery through production
- Build backend services and customer-facing product experiences
- Develop AI agents and automation for complex financial workflows
- Integrate products with banking systems and payment providers
- Make architecture decisions across a broad technical stack
- Work directly with financial specialists to understand customer problems
- Set technical standards while staying hands-on with production code
What You'll Bring:
Essential Experience owning complex products and technical decisions in startup environments Strong product engineering skills across backend systems and customer-facing software Experience building FinTech products or systems handling money, payments or investments Strong computer science fundamentals and confidence working across technologies DesirableExperience building AI-native products used by real customers Knowledge of asset management, fund administration or complex financial workflows Experience with Python, TypeScript, AWS, Kubernetes or similar technologies We encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every requirement.
