About the role

Seeking a dependable, patient-focused Per Diem Pharmacist to provide pharmacy coverage on an as-needed basis. The Pharmacist will support day-to-day pharmacy operations while ensuring prescriptions are dispensed safely, accurately, and in compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations. This position is ideal for a pharmacist who enjoys working directly with patients and healthcare professionals and is comfortable stepping into a community pharmacy environment to provide reliable coverage.
Essential Job Functions: Review, interpret, and accurately dispense prescription medications. Verify prescriptions for appropriate dosage, drug interactions, allergies, contraindications, and therapeutic appropriateness. Provide medication counseling and education to patients regarding proper medication use, potential side effects, and adherence. Maintain the highest standards of patient safety, quality, and confidentiality. Communicate with physicians, providers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding medication-related questions and patient needs. Oversee and provide guidance to pharmacy technicians and support staff while on duty. Support efficient pharmacy workflow and prescription processing. Assist with medication inventory, ordering, storage, and appropriate handling. Ensure compliance with federal and state pharmacy laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Maintain accurate pharmacy records and documentation. Assist with insurance-related prescription issues and medication access when necessary. Provide professional, compassionate, and patient-centered customer service. Support Pharmacy Management with operational needs and special projects as required. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy environment. Provide reliable coverage for vacations, PTO, staffing shortages, and other pharmacy scheduling needs.
Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited school of pharmacy. Active and unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of New York. Pharmacist license must be in good standing. Previous community, retail, outpatient, or ambulatory pharmacy experience preferred. Strong knowledge of pharmacy operations, medication safety, and applicable pharmacy regulations. Excellent communication and patient counseling skills. Ability to supervise pharmacy technicians and maintain an efficient workflow. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and patient safety. Ability to work independently and adapt quickly to different staffing and operational needs. Dependable and available to provide coverage on an as-needed basis.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous retail or community pharmacy experience. Experience working with diverse patient populations. Experience in a health center, clinic-based, FQHC, or 340B pharmacy environment. Immunization certification, where applicable. Familiarity with pharmacy management and prescription processing systems.
