Oasis Hospice is seeking compassionate and qualified volunteers to help lead our Grief & Loss Support Groups as part of our bereavement program. This is a meaningful opportunity to support individuals and families navigating the difficult journey of loss by providing a safe, supportive, and understanding environment.
Position Overview:
Volunteers will assist in facilitating a monthly grief support group that last about one hour, helping guide conversations, offering emotional support, and ensuring participants feel heard and respected.
Who We're Looking For:
- We are specifically seeking individuals with experience or training in supporting others through grief, including:
- Licensed counselors or therapists
- Social workers
- Religious or spiritual leaders (pastors, ministers, chaplains, etc.)Bereavement specialists
- Individuals with relevant professional or volunteer experience in grief support
Volunteer Responsibilities:
- Help facilitate structured group discussions
- Provide compassionate listening and emotional support
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and confidential environment
- Collaborate with hospice staff on group planning and follow-upCommit to attending scheduled monthly sessions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in counseling, ministry, social work, or related field
- Experience working with individuals experiencing grief or loss
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain boundaries and confidentiality
- Comfort with virtual platforms (if facilitating online groups)
