The DAMS Assistant will support the ongoing management of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's Digital Asset Management System (DAMS). Under the mentorship of the Rock Hall's Digital Asset Manager, this position offers opportunities to address the unique challenges of managing diverse digital assets; exposure to the Museum's rich collections chronicling the history of rock & roll and popular music; hands-on experience working in database systems; and engagement with staff across divisions for a wide range of professional experiences. Job Responsibilities & Duties Improve asset discoverability through enhanced descriptive metadata Provide user support and training Maintain and update the DAMS knowledgebase Participates in cross-departmental meetings and collaborative projects Stakeholders of any discrepancies. Possible Projects Work with staff across divisions on ingesting department records and creating associated metadata and rights information Connect assets between the DAMS and Collections Management SystemLink related assets, such as performance photography and video recordings, to their legal performance releases Clean up data and create metadata for legacy assets Duties include but may not be limited to the above Job Requirements & Qualifications Experience using asset or collections management software OrangeDAM or Axiell Collections is a plus Familiarity with creating descriptive metadata following established metadata standards Understanding of copyright and intellectual property rights Knowledge of digital preservation concepts, standards, and best practices Understanding of archival arrangement and description Attention to detail and strong organizational skills Willingness to collaborate with Rock Hall staff from across divisions Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Ability to work both independently and collaboratively Strong written and verbal communication skills Preferred Experience Hands-on experience with digitization and born-digital capture Familiarity with creating, capturing, and managing audio-visual materials Experience creating training materials and technical documentation in multiple formats Historical knowledge of and passion for rock & roll and related music genres Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Bridge, or Premiere
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent. Ability to read and demonstrate basic oral, written, mathematical and manual skills. Ability to communicate in standard English. Applicants currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in a related field, such as Library & Information Science, Museum Studies, or Records Management, are encouraged to apply. Experience working in a museum, library, or archives setting is preferred.
Working Conditions:
Environmental Parameters: Ability to work in a window-less office. Ability to work in an environment with loud noise. Ability to handle exposure to vibration due to machinery.
Physical Demands: Strength: Ability to lift/move items weighing up to 50 lbs. (approximately)

Work involves sitting most of the time but involves walking or standing for periods of time. Equipment Used: Computer, telephone, photocopier, and other office equipment. Safety Hazards: Minimal hazards. General office working conditions.

- Communication: Ability to be conversant in Rock Hall rules and procedures. Ability to understand and carry out written or verbal instructions. Ability to answer inquiries from visitors, employees, clients, vendor and caterers.
- Administrative: Ability to complete forms. Ability to pay attention to detail and accurately distinguish data. Ability to organize and prioritize various schedules, data and documents.
- Manual:
- Motor Coordination: Ability to make necessary movements in selecting, picking, and depositing items.
- Finger Dexterity: Ability to pick, pinch or otherwise work with fingers to operate above equipment. Ability to pick up a variety of items and place them on shelves; to move knobs, buttons, or switches.
- Manual Dexterity: Ability to seize, hold, grasp, turn or otherwise work with hands. Ability to shake, sort, fold, or stack items; to place and retrieve items.
Work Schedule: Ability to work approximately 20 hours per week; Monday through Friday.

The position is onsite only, at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Museum and Library & Archives in Cleveland, Ohio.
