Position Summary:
Fusion is seeking an experienced General Engineer to support the design, construction, modernization, and sustainment of secure federal facilities within the National Capital Region. This role provides technical oversight, engineering support, construction coordination, and infrastructure expertise across mission-critical and classified facility projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong engineering background in one or more disciplines including mechanical, electrical, civil, or facilities engineering, with experience supporting federal, DoW, or other critical infrastructure environmentsClearance RequirementActive Top-Secret clearance required. TS/SCI preferredCandidates must be able to obtain and maintain any additional customer-required clearances or access authorizationsKey Responsibilities
Design & Technical ReviewProvide multidisciplinary engineering support for secure facility construction, renovation, and infrastructure projectsReview engineering drawings, specifications, design packages, calculations, and other technical documentation for constructability, coordination, and compliancePerform technical evaluations across mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, HVAC, controls, utilities, and site systemsIdentify design conflicts and technical issues, evaluate potential impacts, and coordinate practical solutions with appropriate engineering disciplines and project stakeholderReview proposed design changes and construction modifications for technical impact and alignment with project requirementsField & Site WorkProvide field engineering and construction-phase support, including site walks, inspections, condition assessments, and construction observationVerify installed systems and equipment against approved drawings, specifications, submittals, and design intentEvaluate and document field conditions, deficiencies, and construction-related issues and support their technical resolutionSupport construction, renovations, commissioning, testing, and turnover activities within operational mission-critical facilitiesSecurity, Codes, and ComplianceApply applicable UFC criteria, DoW and federal standards, building codes, industry standards, and project-specific engineering requirementsSupport compliance with technical, construction, safety, and secure-facility requirements throughout project executionHandle sensitive and controlled project information in accordance with applicable security requirementsProject and Coordination SupportCoordinate with project managers, discipline engineers, contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and government stakeholdersParticipate in design reviews, construction meetings, technical discussions, and multidisciplinary coordinationSupport resolution of engineering and construction issues while considering impacts to project schedule, cost, quality, and facility operationsMaintain accurate engineering documentation and support tracking of technical issues, design changes, and project deliverablesWork Conditions & Physical Requirements
This is an exempt position performed at an active construction site. Although some work is completed in an onsite office trailer, employees may at some time be required to perform work within active construction areas. This position may require additional hours or attention outside of a traditional 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. schedule to support construction activities, project deadlines, customer requirements, or urgent matters. Flexibility and reasonable responsiveness to time-sensitive project needs are essential. This role requires the ability to: Work f ully onsite, supporting secure government facilities and active construction environments requiringstrict access controls and security protocolsWork is performed in indoor and outdoor environments, including active construction sites and around mechanical systems, high-voltage switchgear, substations, utilities, and other critical infrastructureLift/carry up to 25 lbs., climb ladders, safely navigating uneven terrain, and working in confined spaces·Work around high-voltage equipment, moving machinery, construction vehicles, dust, and moderate to high noise levelsWear required personal protective equipment and comply with all OSHA, Fusion, customer, and site-specific safety requirementsEmployees must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
