Recycling, Compost and Solid Waste Technician IPosition Details Position Title: Recycling, Compost and Solid Waste Technician IDivision/College: Facilities Management
Department: Facilities Management-Shops/Misc.
Location: Moscow
Position Overview:
This position aids in developing and implementing the Recycling, Compost and Solid Waste programs to minimize waste production and manage costs on the University of Idaho campus. Duties may include: Dispose of a variety of materials, Maintain records of overall types and weights of materials leaving the university, Establish fair market value and maintain current records of disposition, Assist with managing and oversight of the solid waste program, Work with the Environmental Health and Safety Office (EHS) to identify, reduce and divert hazardous waste, Attend meetings and training sessions to keep current on program changes and solid waste technologies and regulations, Other duties as assigned Unit URL: https://www.uidaho.edu/facility-servicesPosition
Qualifications
Required Experience:
Working in a team environment, Learning and following set procedures and routines, Setting priorities and organizing daily responsibilities
Required Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent Required Other: Possess a valid driver's license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving university-owned vehicles, Be at least 18 years of age
Additional Preferred:
Post-secondary education or training certificates related to the solid waste and recycling industries, with emphasis on current regulations, rules and practices, Two years of warehousing or production experience in a recycling, collection center or warehouse environment, Knowledge of and/or training on state and federal property disposal guidelines, Experience safely handling and shipping hazardous materials, Certification involving hazardous materials safety training, Forklift operator certification, Expressed interest in learning and acquiring skills related to recycling and solid waste Physical Requirements & Working Conditions: Must be able to: Bend, stoop and work in awkward positions for several hours at a time, Carry, lift or otherwise move up items weighing up to 50 pounds, Push, pull or otherwise move loaded wheeled carts, containers or tow units by hand over hard surfaces, Stand and walk continuously throughout the workday, Work in inclement weather conditions, Work on uneven and slick surfaces Degree Requirement: Listed degree qualification is required at time of application Posting InformationFLSA Status: Non-Exempt
