Medical-Surgical Travel Registered Nurse

Advantis Medical Staffing is seeking an experienced Med Surg Travel Nurse for night shifts in Birmingham, AL. In this contract role, you’ll deliver comprehensive medical-surgical care, perform thorough assessments, administer meds and IV therapies, and manage multiple complex patients on a busy unit. You’ll collaborate closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to plan and coordinate care, document accurately in the EHR, and uphold strict safety and infection-control standards. Provide comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse adult patient population on a hospital unit Perform ongoing patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and recognize and respond to changes in condition Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and accurately per physician orders Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) in a timely manner Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other team members to develop and update individualized care plans Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, discharge plans, and home care instructions Adhere to hospital policies, infection control standards, and patient safety protocols at all times Coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges efficiently while managing multiple patient priorities Communicate clearly with charge nurses and staffing to ensure appropriate patient assignments and continuity of care Participate in handoff reports and interdisciplinary rounds to support consistent, high-quality patient care Medical-surgical nursing Patient assessment IV therapy and medication administration Electronic Health Records (EHR) documentation Wound care Care planning and coordination Telemetry monitoring Acute care clinical skills Infection control Patient and family education Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Active RN license BLS certification ACLS preferred Minimum 1 year recent Med Surg experience Eligibility to work as a travel nurse in the U.S.
