The Position: The Licensed Practical Nurse role at the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs offers a chance to make a real difference every day. Description Of WorkThis position helps ensure that residents receive consistent, safe, and respectful nursing care in a supportive environment. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will perform the following duties:
  • Health Assessment Support: Assist the RN by checking resident health status and ensuring accurate and confidential documentation
  • Medication Management: Administer medications and treatments, verify pharmacy orders, and maintain accurate records
  • Resident Observation: Observe residents for changes or concerns and report findings while documenting daily care activities
  • Care Coordination: Work with the RN to help plan and adjust resident care and participate in nursing committees when needed
  • Safety and Hygiene: Ensure residents are clean, safe, and well groomed while supporting infection control practices
  • Specialized Care: Provide focused care for residents in specialty units such as Alzheimer care

QualificationsNecessary Special Requirements: This position requires active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practice Nurse in Pennsylvania. All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
Other Requirements: PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. If you are within 60 days of completing a licensed practical nursing program approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply for this job posting. At the time of appointment to a position, you must show proof of possession of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Licensed Practical Nurse license. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements: This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance. A conditional offer of employment may require satisfactory completion of a medical examination and drug screening.
