About the role

GREAT CODE can help the sick heal. Not solely through experts, but by those WHO LIVED IT.Healhub is looking for an exceptional Founding iOS Engineer to take ownership of our native iOS application as we move into our first real-world pilot. This is a full-time, 40-hour/week founding-team role. We are pre-funding, so there is no salary initially. The position comes with 2% equity, subject to 4-year vesting with a 1-year cliff. We expect this to become a salaried position once Healhub raises sufficient funding We want this to be completely clear upfront: we’re looking for someone who has the circumstances and runway to genuinely make Healhub their full-time work.
THIS IS THE MISSION: HEALHUBHealhub helps people searching for answers find and learn from others who have lived through similar health experiences. We believe people carry knowledge that is often lost because their experiences are difficult to capture, compare, and find. We’re building Healhub to change that. It’s a plus if you’ve faced serious health challenges yourself and understand firsthand what it’s like to search for answers. WHERE WE ARE NOWWe have a working native iOS application in TestFlight, an established backend and AI/search infrastructure, interactive 3D characters, video, matching, and a small engineering team that has been building together. We’re now preparing for our first focused pilot with real users. Our current iOS engineer needs to step back from his responsibilities for personal reasons. He will help interview and directly onboard the engineer who takes over, including codebase walkthroughs and knowledge transfer. WHO WE’RE LOOKING FORYou must be respected by experienced iOS engineers for your skills. You’ve shipped real native iOS products and know how to work inside an existing codebase… not just build demos from scratch. You know what you know, and you’re humble about it. You understand your limits but love to push them. You’re self-motivated, disciplined, and thrive on ownership and responsibility. You have a strong sense of UX, can’t stand poor performance, and love turning well-planned design and art into great code and products. Most importantly, you execute. When you take responsibility for something, the team can depend on you to carry it through. AREAS OF EXPERIENCENative iOS development SwiftUIKitAPI/backend integration Video/media on iOSPerformance optimization and debugging TestFlight / App Store release process Git and collaborative development Experience with Reality Kit / SceneKit / 3D is a strong plus. Native Android / Kotlin experience is also especially valuable as Healhub expands beyond iOS.Your responsibility will be to take ownership of Healhub’s iOS application: developing it, improving it, solving problems, shipping releases, and working closely with the rest of the engineering team as we move through our pilot and beyond. OWNERSHIPThis position begins with 2% equity, subject to standard 4-year vesting with a 1-year cliff. We believe ownership should grow when someone’s contribution and responsibility grow significantly. Exceptional long-term contribution or expansion of the role may lead to additional equity grants. LOCATIONRemote. U.S. or near-U.S. time zones are preferred because of team collaboration, but we will consider an exceptional candidate elsewhere if the working hours genuinely work. This project will be hard. It’s a startup. Everyone on the team expects the most of themselves. We’re not looking for someone simply searching for their next job. We’re looking for someone who wants to use exceptional engineering skills to build something that could genuinely help people. Let’s connect people… and help them find a way forward.
