Nurse Aide Adjunct Faculty---Academy (Part-Time)Virginia Western, located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains of the Roanoke Valley, is accepting applications for part-time, Adjunct Faculty for our Nurse Aide Program in the School of Health Professions. Adjuncts will teach dual enrolled high school students on the VWCC campus. Adjunct faculty positions are appointed on a course-by-course, semester basis as needed. Faculty are expected to maintain currency in their teaching disciplines and in trends in community college education. Applications will be received and considered on a continuous basis, as openings occur. Review of applications will begin when a need arises and will continue until needed positions are filled. Special Assignments - May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. KSA's/Required Qualifications - Diploma or Associate's degree in Nursing. A current Registered Nurse (RN) license is required. Current CPR certification is required. Primary instructor must have a minimum of two years long term care experience. A minimum of two years of related nursing occupational experience. The successful candidate will possess strong written and oral communication skills, up-to-date computer skills to support instructional activities, as well as the ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds. Additional Considerations - Associate's degree with a major in Nursing is preferred. Previous teaching experience in a Practical Nursing Program, or other nursing program, and experience using instructional technology are desired. Experience teaching in a college setting. Occupational experience in acute care, long-term care, and/or medical-surgical nursing preferred. Train-the-trainer certification preferred.
