Assistant/Associate Professor of Philosophy, Fall 2027

Qualifications: PhD in Philosophy must be completed by the position start date,8/1/2027. Some preference will be given to candidates at theadvanced Assistant or early Associate level. Candidates forappointment at the Assistant Professor level must demonstratepotential to develop a sustained record of excellence in teachingand research. Candidates for appointment at the Associate Professorlevel must demonstrate a sustained record of excellence in teachingand research, as well as a record of significant service. Area of Specialization: Philosophy of Language or Logic Area of Competency: Open but ability to teach PHIL 235 (Formal Logic) is required. Highly desirable would be one or more of(i)ability to teach PHIL 435 (Intermediate Formal Logic, required forall Ph. D. students);(ii) ability to contribute to someinterdisciplinary area (e.g. linguistics, neuroscience, AI, gamedevelopment);(iii) ability to contribute to the department'sdegree concentrations in Legal and Political Philosophy or Philosophy of Science and Medicine.
