Stepdown Registered Nurse

Mission Health in Asheville, NC is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Stepdown Overflow unit. In this fast-paced, high-acuity setting, you will provide evidence-based care to adult patients transitioning from intensive care, including cardiac, medical-surgical, and post-operative cases. Responsibilities include monitoring complex patients, managing medications and drips per protocol, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, educating patients and families, and supporting safe discharges. Provide direct, evidence-based nursing care to adult stepdown patients Continuously monitor vitals, telemetry, and clinical status of high-acuity patients Administer medications, titrate drips, and perform ordered treatments and procedures Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and ancillary staff on care plans Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and discharge instructions Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the EHR Support safe transitions of care from ICU and to lower-acuity units or home Follow infection prevention, safety, and quality standards and protocols Acute care nursing Telemetry monitoring IV therapy and medication administration Cardiac rhythm interpretation Advanced assessment skills Care planning and coordination Electronic health record documentation Patient and family education Infection prevention practices Critical thinking and clinical judgment Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Active RN license in North Carolina or compact state Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Telemetry or critical care experience preferred BSN preferred
