Trauma Neuro Stepdown Registered Nurse

Mission Health in Asheville, NC seeks a Trauma Neuro Stepdown Registered Nurse to care for acutely ill trauma and neurology patients in a fast-paced stepdown setting. You’ll perform comprehensive assessments, manage complex medication and monitoring regimens, and coordinate care with an expert interdisciplinary team. Provide high-quality nursing care to trauma and neurology stepdown patients, including complex assessments and interventions Monitor vital signs, neurological status, and response to treatment, escalating changes promptly to providers Administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely, following hospital and unit protocols Coordinate and communicate care plans with physicians, therapists, case managers, and the interdisciplinary team Educate patients and families on conditions, procedures, medications, and discharge plans Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the electronic health record Participate in code and rapid response situations, following established clinical protocols Support quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives within the unit Precept and mentor new nurses or students as assigned Adhere to infection prevention, safety, and regulatory standards at all times Trauma nursing Neurology nursing Stepdown / progressive care Cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring Neurological assessments (NIHSS, GCS) IV therapy and vascular access Medication administration and titration Telemetry interpretation Electronic health records (EHR) documentation Patient and family education Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Active RN license (North Carolina or compact) Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) preferred National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
