K-12 Academic Tutor – Education Nonprofit

City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide daily academic tutoring in core subjects to small groups of students Support classroom teachers with lesson reinforcement and activities Track and report student progress using school and City Year tools Build positive, mentoring relationships that foster students’ social-emotional growth Collaborate with a diverse AmeriCorps team to plan and deliver interventions Communicate regularly with school staff about student needs and successes Participate in ongoing training, reflection, and professional development Model inclusive, respectful behavior aligned with City Year’s values Academic tutoring (ELA & math) Lesson implementation support Student progress monitoring Small-group instruction Classroom management support Data entry & tracking Educational technology tools (e.g., Google Classroom) Behavioral support strategies (PBIS/SEL) Professional communication (students, teachers, families) Time management & organization Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Ability to meet AmeriCorps eligibility requirements (including background checks) Strong written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated commitment to educational equity or community service Experience working or volunteering with school-age youth preferred
