Overview:
In this role, you will lead the accounts payable function to support CPCS's legal services and court-related expenses. You will supervise AP staff, ensure timely payments and accurate invoicing, and uphold compliance with state rules. You will collaborate with the Accounting Manager to manage encumbrance and fund reallocations, while enhancing processes toward a more efficient, paperless environment. This position offers a meaningful public-service impact and an opportunity to shape financial controls and vendor relations.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise accounts payable processes for agency services and related payments
- Provide ongoing supervision and training for AP staff; conduct performance evaluations
- Ensure timely payments, accurate application and reconciliation of invoices
- Review vendor payment reports for accuracy and audit compliance
- Assist with encumbrance, funding reallocations, and MOSAIC system negotiations
- Develop and implement AP policies and internal control procedures
- Support paperless initiatives, routine reporting, and performance management
- Resolve issues related to state accounting systems and payment platforms
- Prepare and share payment status information and maintain filing systems
- Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or equivalent
- Four years of accounting or accounts payable experience
- Access to home internet for remote work
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong leadership and mentoring ability
- Customer service focus
- Proficiency with MOSAIC (state accounting system) and reconciling accounts
- Advanced Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Outlook)
- Experience with new billing/platform system implementations
