About the role
Full-Time Contract RN for Middle School Student Make a meaningful difference by providing dedicated care to a middle school student as a full-time contract RN. This unique role centers around delivering one-on-one nursing support to a student who has relied on a ventilator since birth, ensuring safety and encouragement within a school environment. The contract position begins ASAP and extends through May 27, 2027. Your expertise will allow this student to access their education while receiving the highest standard of care during school hours.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Current RN (Registered Nurse) license in the state of Texas or compact state
- Strong background in pediatric nursing, especially within a school setting
- Extensive ventilator management experience is essential
- Comfort and confidence working one-on-one with children or adolescents
- Ability to respond effectively to medical emergencies
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with school staff, parents, and healthcare providers
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide vigilant, compassionate one-on-one care during regular school hours (40 hours per week)
- Monitor and manage the student's ventilator, documenting all relevant observations and interventions
- Support the student in daily school activities, adapting care as needed
- Administer prescribed medications or treatments as necessary
- Collaborate closely with the educational and medical team to ensure integrated support
- Educate and guide school personnel on the student's care plan when appropriate
- Maintain accurate medical records in accordance with school policy and nursing standards
