Medical-Surgical Orthopedic Registered Nurse

Mission Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Med Surg Ortho unit in Asheville, NC. In this role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to adult orthopedic and med-surg patients, including assessment, post-operative management, pain control, and discharge planning. You will collaborate with physicians and a multidisciplinary team, use advanced technology and EHR systems, and support quality and safety initiatives. Deliver evidence-based nursing care to adult med-surg and orthopedic patients on an acute care unit Perform comprehensive assessments, monitor vital signs, and respond to changes in patient condition Administer medications, treatments, and post-operative pain management per provider orders and protocols Provide wound, incision, and mobility care, supporting safe ambulation and rehabilitation goals Document accurately in the electronic health record and maintain regulatory and safety standards Educate patients and families on conditions, procedures, medications, and discharge plans Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and support staff to coordinate care Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical excellence initiatives Precept or mentor new nurses and support staff as requested Support Mission Health’s culture of compassion, teamwork, and continuous improvement Acute care nursing Orthopedic/post-op care Patient assessment Electronic health records (EHR) documentation Medication administration Care planning and coordination Wound and incision care Pain management Patient and family education Interdisciplinary collaboration Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Active RN license (NC or compact state) Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred Orthopaedic Nursing Certification (ONC) preferred Telemetry/medical-surgical certification preferred
